Colin Sahlman, Leo Young and Lex Young swept the top three spots, with Aaron Sahlman placing sixth overall in the boys 5-kilometer gold race to lead Newbury Park XC Club to the team title with 29 points at the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala. Colin Sahlman, Leo Young and Lex Young all broke the national high school 5-kilometer cross country record of 14:10.4 set in 2000 by Dathan Ritzenhein of Rockford High in Michigan. Colin Sahlman ran 14:03.29, Leo Young clocked 14:05.07, Lex Young finished in 14:05.49 and Aaron Sahlman finished in 14:14.38, with Daniel Appleford as the fifth scorer for Newbury Park, placing 42nd in 14:44.92, good for 18th in the team scoring. Newbury Park ran a national high school 5-kilometer record 71:13.1, with Hector Martinez finishing 55th in 14:52.72 and Dev Doshi taking 68th in 14:59.51. More videos
